About
Alessandro Miracapillo
Berlin
I'm Alessandro Miracapillo. I live in Berlin, I'm Italian, and I work in English and Italian. I make software for sound and image: music instruments and plugins, installations and web interfaces. I design the interfaces and write the code myself.
I build web frontends with React, TypeScript and Next.js, and backends with Node.js or Python (FastAPI) when a project needs them. In 2025 I developed the North Sea chapter of the Berggruen Institute's Planetary Compendium from the designers' Figma files. The project received an Honorary Mention at Prix Ars Electronica 2026. I also build sites for clients with headless CMSs such as PayloadCMS and PagesCMS.
Since 2018 I have run Aylesim Devices, where I design and build Max for Live instruments and support the people who use them. I studied electronic music at the Conservatorio Niccolò Piccinni in Bari, and I have made installations and live visuals.

Teaching
- Fondazione Cascina Cotica (2024): a four-month remote web development course in Svelte, SvelteKit, Git and GitHub Pages for adults aged 20 to 60 with mixed starting levels. I reviewed code until every participant had a live website.
- La Scuola Open Source, Bari (2018 to 2026): worker-member of the cooperative. I ran workshops, including Self Playing Music (generative music in Max/MSP and Pure Data), ESP32 sensor builds at MAST Festival and Arduino at XFARM, and I maintained the cooperative's Kubernetes cluster (Docker, Nextcloud, Jitsi).
